The facility provides much-needed space for future expansion of on-residential programming. The inception of Laura's House was inspired by a true story about a woman called Laura who was a victim of domestic violence. The 2024 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, held on April 27 at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., welcomed journalists and many celebrities on its red carpet.

One of the most critical gaps in care is that there has been no centralized location where survivors of domestic violence can access all the resources they need. Rather, domestic violence services and complimentary programs are dispersed throughout Orange County. The different offices can be difficult to access, which can create additional stress on someone trying to escape an already difficult situation. After 45 days, Patty learned that her request to transfer her job location had been approved by her employer. An alarming rise in calls for help has continued into 2021 since the early part of the COVID-19 lockdown last year as people were trapped at home with each other and struggling with job loss and other pandemic-related stress. The week following the March 19, 2020, statewide stay-at-home order,  there was an unexpected lull in hotline calls. The Power of the Journey capital campaign received its first major donation not long after it was launched. From the administrative side, the new building had to be in a more easily accessible central location, provide enhanced security, enhanced training capacity, and space to expand existing programs. In 1991, a few local women formed the South Orange County Domestic Violence Action Committee with the dream of building a shelter for battered women in South County. After being contacted by Laura's mother and hearing that Laura had nowhere to turn to for resources to help her, the women were committed to making their dreams become a reality.

Without intervention and education programs, victims of domestic violence find it extremely difficult to break the cycle of coercion and abuse that have become the norm in their lives. In addition, the new facility would be a place where the community could gather to learn more about the epidemic of domestic abuse, through classes, training and awareness events. By reducing risk factors and providing the information, education, life skills and support Laura's House is able to break the cycle of domestic violence and empower victims to move beyond the abuse and live fulfilling lives. Yet despite the progress Laura’s House has made to assist those most in need of help, there continues to be unmet needs that must be addressed.

This look is unmatched and can be easily created by using red for the rooftop and white for the exterior walls. Enhance the ambience with suitable lighting and adding a touch of golden hues. Dark brown mingles perfectly with the cream colour exterior paint set-up.

White walls will bring all the benefits of painting your home white, however topping with a bright roof will add a little bit of personality to your home. This red and white combo is classic and eye-catching in equal measure. An added benefit of selecting greige paint colors for the exterior of a house is that it leaves you free to be more creative with your front door color ideas. Every color from warm reds, pinks and oranges through to cooler greens and blues will look great set against a greige house. For a home with both stone and siding, choose colors that complement them both while balancing the overall aesthetic.

Light Gray, White and Lemon

A 2023 report from the real estate website Zillow found that rooms painted dark gray or charcoal can help sell your home for as much as $2,512 more. It’s possible that an exterior in full color garb can have an even higher impact on real estate value. Take immersing yourself in nature to the next level with a forest green home exterior color. To avoid blending the home into its environment too much, paint the top half forest green and the lower half white, as Marshall Watson Interiors did on this Michigan home. If you prefer the tranquility of a white house, consider making the white glow by pairing it with some dark accents. You don't even have to go with black — this rich dark door and almost black shutters look classy.

Set a whimsical tone from the street with exterior paint colors in pretty pastel hues. This bungalow features a muted lime-green color that blends gently into the surrounding landscaping. Powder blue paint on the front steps and door playfully sets off the siding and beckons guests inside. To avoid a candy-coated effect, choose less saturated shades of the bright colors, and balance them with plenty of white trim. Pair black siding with white trim, which will highlight your home's architectural features and prevent the dark neutral from appearing too gloomy. Here, an aqua front door adds another element of brightness that contrasts with the inky siding and black metal roof.

For inspiration, consider your home’s style and scale as well as architectural styles typical of your neighborhood and region. “The best exterior colors are contextual to their environment,” Rill observes. Color will always catch the eye but it is important that it fits in with your region and the colors of your neighbors' homes.

Light Blue + White

Nothing compliments a classic saltbox house like an all black exterior. Opting for white trim helps to accentuate the doors and windows for a high-contrast graphic look. Going for a black and white scheme is a great way to modernize a more traditional style, but be mindful of your climate. Then add subtle contrast with a distinct black, as designer Shazalynn Cavin Winfrey did for her Texas home by painting the windows and doors in Jet Black by Benjamin Moore. The former parsonage's terra-cotta details and surrounding greenery complete the inviting scene.

This classic colour by itself makes a statement, and it can be combined well with other colours. White colour works well for home outside on any size of a house in India, which is the reason it is quite widely used. The off-white building colour, which is now trending, especially for the façade, provides a lot of scope for numerous design ideas. Shades of white exterior colour can serve as a simple home front colour yet they can add a touch of sophistication, freshness and brightness to the home outside. The colour of your external walls has to blend with the architectural design of your house.

Just remember that you always want some clear definition between your roof and your paint color. With the amount of information available in the market, it can be confusing to choose a unique colour combination for the outside walls of your house. So, while selecting your colour combination you should keep in mind, the size of the house, the colour ratio and your personal choices to achieve a warm and homely look for your house. It is also vital that you consider the weather as it affects the durability of the exterior paints. As the saying goes, it is the first impression that counts especially in the case of exterior design.

Below, view some of our favorite exterior paint colors for inspiration. Many people equate contemporary homes with a limited exterior color scheme. But modern-style homes offer inspiration for a diverse way to showcase color and pattern, even if the palette is pretty neutral. If you're building new or remodeling your exterior, consider all the shapes and sizes of brick to create an accent feature rather than relying solely on paint for adding color. Here, the pattern on the brick section of the front facade is nearly mosaic-like.

Most homeowners and pros use latex paint indoors—whether that’s latex enamel or acrylic latex—since it dries quicker than oil-based paint and is easy to clean if you make any mistakes. However, for cabinets, window trims, and doors, some opt for oil-based paint for a smoother surface. It’ll take anywhere from six to 10 hours to paint a single room.

It'll cost around $170 to $680 to have a pro paint a single room in your home. While these are national averages, be prepared to be flexible as your painter might charge by the square foot of coverage or floor space. If you live in a condo, check with your homeowners association before hiring a local wall painting service or picking up a paint roller yourself. Painting a 1,200-square-foot condo typically costs around $4,200. In 1953, his Techbuilt house was launched, after a decade of research.

Plenty of people use a pressure washer to clean their car, but it can do more harm than good. Using a pressure washer can damage or nick the paint, which could lead to rust. A car wash will usually get the job done—so will a garden hose and soapy sponge.

Make sure to build up pressure in your pump sprayer from the safety of solid ground before climbing a ladder to spray your roof. Tempting as it might be to blast away unsightly moss and algae, using a pressure washer to clean your roof is dangerous, not to mention potentially damaging. We never recommend using a pressure washer while you’re perched on a ladder because blowback could throw you off balance. The powerful stream of water can also loosen roof shingles, and if your shingles are asphalt, it can strip them of the embedded granules that help extend the life of your roof.

Deck blocks are a popular choice for outdoor construction projects, offering a versatile and cost-effective option for building raised decks. However, it’s essential to consider the height limitations when using deck blocks. While there’s a variant designed to support a four-by-four, it’s crucial to note that building too high can compromise stability and safety. Thus, it’s generally recommended to keep a deck built with deck blocks lower than six feet from the ground to the surface of the deck.
